Nuclear Plant Operations

Nuclear Plant Operators use advanced technical skills to ensure safe operations of power reactors. Their job means the public receives a reliable supply of electricity, 24/7, with no pollutants released into the atmosphere.

As a Nuclear Plant Operator, you will:

  • Operate and control equipment that generates electricity and supports the reactor.
  • Use special diagnostic tools to monitor the condition of the reactor, generation, and support systems.
  • Do preventative maintenance "checkups" on equipment and make repairs.
  • Ensure proceedures comply with company policies and regulations.

Entry-Level: Non-Licensed Operator
Mid-Level: Reactor Operator
Senior-Level: Senior Reactor Operator

 

 

Overview

Annual Salary Range*: $69k�85k

High School to Associate’s Degree

You�ll also need to:

  • Promote workplace safety.
  • Know proceedures thoroughly and apply them precisely.
  • Work in noisy environments while wearing hearing protection.
  • Work long hours performing repetitive tasks while remaining alert.
